1) What do you do at AFS?
What do you love most about your position?
I am the finance manager at AFS. That means anything to do with money I play a large part, especially when it comes to overseeing all the ins and outs of everyone’s escrow accounts. I am that typical “nerd” that loves numbers. They have always made sense to me. I love the structure of what I do and that I get to be part of these amazing journeys.
2) Where were you born and raised? What brought you to Oregon?
I was born in Mesa, Arizona, but moved to Memphis, TN when I was 7. So when asked, I usually say I grew up in the south. I even had the best little southern accent, but worked hard to get rid of it when I moved back to Arizona for college. I didn’t like the attention although you can still catch it from time to time. My husband and I decided to move to Oregon in 2013 because we were simply tired of Arizona. It was too hot and brown. We needed seasons, trees, rain and the color green. We have friends that live here and just by the pictures we saw posted on Facebook, we jumped on the chance to move here with our 2 kids. To this day we still say it was the best decision we ever made. I don’t see us ever leaving the Pacific Northwest.
3) How would you describe yourself?
I am very analytical and logical which makes me come off as too “black and white”, but I truly do care for others and for doing what is right. I am just a huge nerd at heart. I love movies and books. I will geek out on anything Harry Potter. The best way to win me over is to bring me a coffee or invite me to a game or movie night.
4) What do you like doing in your spare time?
My spare time is spent binge watching shows with my husband, hanging out with my awesome kids (ages 9 and 10), or exploring Oregon and all that is has to offer. Oh! I can’t forget about organizing my house, or any friend’s houses that will let me. It is one of my favorite hobbies. I know, I am strange.
5) If you could posses one super-human power, what would it be?
Telekinesis. No doubt about it. I am a bit of a neat freak. I love things in their place. I would use this ability to straighten everything up around me as I sit on the couch watching my current Netflix obsession.
6) If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Popcorn. Most definitely popcorn.
