We did it! The AFS family came together for #GivingTuesday this November 29 and donated to two Oregon organizations, exceeding expectations in both fundraisers! We are so grateful to the surrogates, intended parents, and community partners who contributed. First, we surpassed our $1000 goal for Basic Rights Oregon a full 24 hours before the end of our campaign! With the matching contribution from AFS, we collectively contributed $2050 in support of LGBTQ equality. Our donation will assist Basic Rights Oregon to continue advocating for public policy that meets the needs of the LGBTQ community. Our support now is more critical than ever, and we are delighted to have been able to contribute this #GivingTuesday; AFS plans to continue our support throughout 2017. Stay tuned!
Second, we stopped by the Mother & Child Education Center on the morning of #GivingTuesday to drop off several bins of children’s and maternity clothing, diapers, wipes, and other necessities to families in need. After unloading our donation, we witnessed first-hand how effective the Mother & Child team is at sorting, organizing, and distributing these goods to the clients who visit the center. We were so impressed with the center that we plan on extending our support by making regular drop-offs collected from local members. Again, stay tuned for details on how you can participate! We could not be more proud of the amazing support provided by the members of our AFS community. Our contributors are also the same people who are playing a part in creating young families; this gives us great hope for the future and confirms yet again that love always wins.
