1) What do you do at AFS?
What do you love most about your position?
I get to participate in all parts of a surrogates journey, from beginning to end by helping a potential surrogate with the intake process, and once the journey is complete I help tie up all the loose ends. I love ALL parts of my job, but knowing that I have a part in creating families is very rewarding. I also love helping surrogates reach their goal, I loved my journey and being able to help another woman complete theirs is so fulfilling.
2) Where were you born and raised? What brought you to Tennessee?
I was born in Oklahoma, but was raised in Las Vegas until I was 10, and then Arizona. I moved to Oregon to get away from the blistering heat of AZ! A few years ago I came out, and shortly after I met the love of my life, but she lived in Tennessee. There was only one thing I could do, I packed up my kids and we moved to Tennessee! I never thought anywhere could compare to the beauty of Oregon, but Tennessee has a beauty all its own.
3) How would you describe yourself?
I would like to be able to say I’m funny and witty and cool, but in reality I’m overwhelmingly awkward, I feel like I’m a 15 year old pretending to be an adult. I often look around at my kids (I have 6!) and wonder who decided I was responsible enough to be in charge of all these small humans. I think I’m very kind and compassionate.
4) What do you like doing in your spare time?
I love spending time with my family, going camping and afternoons spent at the creek. When my wife and I get a night to ourselves we REALLY love escape rooms. Like-really love them! Nights at home are spent doing a puzzle and listening to podcasts, I love cooking for my wife who will eat anything!
5) If you could posses one super-human power, what would it be?
Flying!
6) If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Krispy Kreme donuts-but only if they’re hot and ready! Or oatmeal with bananas and brown sugar.
